Divvy helps restaurants sync credit-card tips from their point-of-sale system, build payout groups, and distribute earnings fairly. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Divvy ("Divvy", "we", "us") provides a tip-management platform for restaurants, available as a mobile app and website. When a restaurant uses Divvy to manage its team's tips, the restaurant is the owner of its employees' operational data and Divvy processes that data on the restaurant's behalf. For account and billing data, Divvy is the data controller.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your name, email address, restaurant name, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Operational data

To calculate and distribute tips, Divvy processes data about your restaurant's shifts, including employee names and roles, clock-in and clock-out times, sales, checks, and credit-card tip amounts. This data is imported from your connected point-of-sale provider (such as Toast, Square, or Clover) or entered manually (for example, cash tips). Divvy imports tip and shift data only — it does not collect your guests' payment card numbers.

Payments

Subscription billing and optional instant tip payouts are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Payment card details are entered directly with Stripe and are not stored on Divvy's servers. We retain limited billing records (such as plan, status, and transaction identifiers) to operate the service.

Device & usage data

If you enable notifications, we store a push-notification token so we can deliver alerts. We also collect basic technical and usage information (such as app version, device type, and error logs) to keep the service secure and reliable.

How we use your information

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us run Divvy, and only as needed:

Point-of-sale providersToast, Square, and Clover — to import your shift and tip data when you connect them.
StripeTo process subscription payments and instant tip payouts.
Email & push deliveryTo send transactional email and mobile notifications you have enabled.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Divvy, our users, or the public.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we delete it as described on our Data Deletion page. We may retain a minimal set of records where required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes, and we may keep anonymized, aggregated statistics that can no longer identify you.

Your rights & choices

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and strict tenant isolation so each restaurant's data is kept separate. No system is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.

Children

Divvy is a workplace tool intended for use by adults (18+) and is not directed to children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
